Database Project in eclipse
-
13. dubna 2010 16:58Our .Net developers have started exploring the database functionality provided in VS 2008 Database edition for SQL server. The feedback has been very positive. They are also very excited to see the Quest support for Oracle. So to that point are there plans to provide the database development features in the eclipse IDE? We have both .Net and Java development teams developing against the same SQLServer and Oracle databases so it would be great for them to work in the same database project also keeping them in their IDE of choice.

Not at this time I'm afraid. I can see how this would be very nice for a team that has both .NET and Java systems accessing database back-end, however they will have to jump into Visual Studio on Windows to edit a database project. That said - you are able to automate the build so that the .NET, Java and database proejcts all get built, tested and deployed together.
Apologies,
Martin.

28. dubna 2010 17:30That is disappointing. I think it will be hard to justify spending the 5,000 give or take for the visual studio premium just to give the java developers oracle database development features.
