Show/Hide custom list from quick launch menu for user groups
- Hello,
In my application,Let suppose created five different new custom lists, and already have two user groups administrator and processor group,
and I want to do is hide first list from quick launch menu for processor group. means other than administrator can't view the list at quick launch.
so that i remove the permission of processor group from list1(first list). Now it doesn't show first list for processor group,
But it creates new problem!!! I had created custom web page(.aspx) for all (groups/users) in which fetch first list1 data and add some more data & submit into suppose list2.
(list 2 is visible for all users at quick launch )
But now after removing permission for processor group from list1, my custom web page cant see ... it showing the error...
(b'coz i removed the permission for processor group)...
Is any alternative way to hide list1 for processor group without removing permission???
Please suggest.....
thanks and regards,

You can try to use Audiences to visually limit access to options on the Quick Launch menu (NOTE: this is not a security mechanism. Users that cannot see the menu option can still navigate to those menu option pages if they know the URL).
1. Activate the Office SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature at the site collection feature level.
2. Go to the Site Settings page of the site you want to hide the lists on the quick launch menu.
3. Under the Look and Feel section select the Navigation link.
4. In the Navigation Editing and Sorting section, under the Lists folder (on the right), select the list you want to hide from the processor group and then select the Edit link to open the Navigation Link dialog box.
5. In the Audience section put in the groups you want to have access to the list (administrators group, etc).

- Seems more like customization (of quick launch) than Programming.Moving to Design/Customization.

- Hii,
In my sharepoint site, suppose i have created new link Site Settings > Quick Launch, then it shows me at left side quick launch menu,
But i want to give access to this link.. means suppose i have two different groups admin & group2, then only admin group can view this link at quick launch menu.. If group2 memeber login then it hides...
So how can i achieve this?? for that need to create new permission level, and assign for this group2??
please suggest ..
thanks and regards,

- NEVER NEVER post the same question to two forums.
It wastes everyone's time.
I have deleted your duplicate sent to the Dev/Programming forum.

- The Navigation link will show up when you activate the Office SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature at the site collection feature level.
ACTIVATE the Office SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature ONLY at the SITE COLLECTION level.
