"Get Form From" connection not available when trying to link listview to infopath web part

Hi,

I'm building a portal page that contains a view (web part) which I want to link to an infopath form displayed in an infopath web part on the same page. The form is simply a modified item form using SPD 2010 and there is nothing non-standard being used.  The issue is that when I go to set the data connection on the infopath web part the "Get Form From" option is grayed out.  The mouse-over error text is something like "This connection type is not compatible with any other web parts on the page".  What am I doing wrong here?  it's driving me crazy! :)

If you modified the form in SPD 2010, then it's not an InfoPath form.  If you actually converted the list to InfoPath forms (this is done by InfoPath, not by SPD), then you should be able to "get form from" the list from which that form is bound, but you can only do it from one direction.

Your error is saying that your other web part is not compatible...what kind of web part is it?  The form has to be from the same list as the XSLT list view web part that you connect it to.

I am having a similar problem to Richard Kerridge. However, instead of a portal page I am trying to display an InfoPath web part from a parent list in a child list's Display Form. 

My child list item has a look-up field that contains the ID of the parent list. Currently, I have an InfoPath web part containing the InfoPath form of a child item [InfoPath Form 1], a Parent List Web Part [Parent List] receiving filter values from a field in [InfoPath Form 1], and finally I have a second InfoPath  form Web Part containing an InfoPath form of the Parent list item [InfoPath Form 2]. When I try to establish a connection from [InfoPath Form 2] "Get form From" it is not clickable (grayed out). I don't understand why a form of type Parent isn't compatable with the Parent List web part. Please explain what I've missed. 

In case that was poorly written/ really confusing:

I have created two lists: Inbound shipments and Inventory.

Each Inventory Item holds the ID value of the Inbound Shipment in which it arrived. 

I can already click on an Inbound shipment item and see a list of inventory items that arrived in it. 

What I want is the ability to click on the Inventory item and see the Inbound Shipment details displayed in an InfoPath web part on the Display Form of the Inventory item as well as the Inventory InfoPath web part to display the information about the inventory item.
