Restricting anonymous acces to a list

I'm pretty new to this forum and thus am not sure where to put this question - please forgive me if this is the wrong place.

The Case:
I manage a website which has anonymous reading access to all content. In this content I've created a custom list called "myList" which is located right under (as "child") the root site.
I've then developed an application which queries a MOSS-list through authenticated webservice (/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx).

The idea is, that my customers only are able to read the list through my application (i.e. the list has to be restricted from all anonymous access).

So far i've tried to change the settings under "myList"->"Settings"->"List Settings"->"Permissions for this list". Even though I removed all the users from the list, it didn't affect anything.

How do I make access restricted to this list ?
