It is only installable on VS 11, as the gallery page says. If you could post the symptoms/errors that you are getting, then we can help you more.

One common problem is that people forget to install the VS 11 SDK before trying to install the Toolkit. Clicking on the View Installation Log link in the extension installation dialog reveals that as the blocking issue.

Well, the problem I was having up until 2 mins ago, is that I didn't even have an option to install the toolkit to VS11 (only VS2010!)

The reason, is quite obvious, in retrospect:

    • The "Visual Studio LightSwitch 2011 Extensibility toolkit", found here, targets VS 2010
    • The "LightSwitch Extensibility toolkit for VS11", found here, targets VS 11

I had all the prerequisites correctly installed (for both), but both links will download and extract "Microsoft.LightSwitch.Tookit.vsix", thus I wasn't aware I was actually executing the the VS2010 vsix... :(

Now, I already admitted I shouldn't be allowed near a computer when I'm drunk, apparently I shouldn't be allowed near a computer when I have a body temperature of 102°F either (stupid flu that got to me since yesterday), but even so, this is a mistake that's easy to make...

Still, thanks once again for your swift proposal to help!  Can start working on that fuzzy "quick search" you taught me a couple of days ago :-) (Well, maybe after some sleep...)

    Take care, and thanks!
