Infopath form template failed to load. The object specified does not belong to a list.

  • Hi,

I am having trouble using the "send to Sharepoint" control.

First what I am doing is creating a subsite using a column as title from the Infopath 2010 form, based on a site template. Then I am copying the Infopath form into that subsite using the "send to Sharepoint" control.

The metadata and the data inside the for are also copied as I can see it in the promoted columns. But when I try to open the copied infopath form in the subsite I get an error saying "The object specified does not belong to a list".

    following is the error:

The form template failed to load. (User: domain\Username, Form Name: [FormName], IP: , Request: http://[Server]/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XmlLocation=http://[Server]/2/Library/FormName.xml&Source=http://[Server]/Library/Forms/AllItems.aspx&DefaultItemOpen=1, Form ID: urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:infopath:[FormName]:-myXSD-2011-01-31T21-12-00, Type: SPException, Exception Message: The object specified does not belong to a list.)

Can someone help me out here ??

  • If you have the InfoPath form published as a content type, this content type will be available to all sub sites, so maybe you don't have to use the "send to" option.

I am not sure that the "send to" option was ever designed or tested for your scenario.

Just so you know, when you are publishing a InfoPath forms, a lot of things are happening behind the scene.  Basically, InfoPath forms service need to be informed of the InfoPath form name/location.

You may not be able to just "send to" your published InfoPath forms.

InfoPath forms are different from regular documents.

  • I don't quite understand "creating a subsite using a column as title from the Infopath 2010 form"\

Is this something to do with a third party workflow product like Nintex?  If that is the case, I recommend you post a question to Nintext for a quicker response.
